• Infant Community Guide

    As a Montessori Guide at Acton Academy El Salvador, you will play a pivotal role in fostering the intellectual, social, and emotional development of our students. You will create a dynamic and child-centered learning environment that adheres to the principles and methods of the Montessori philosophy.

  • Your primary responsibilities will include:

    Classroom Leadership

    • Lead a mixed-age classroom of children, typically ranging from 3 to 6 years old.
    • Create a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning space that encourages exploration, independence, and self-motivation.
    • Implement a curriculum that aligns with Montessori principles and meets the needs of individual students.

    Observation and Guidance:

    • Observe each child's progress and follow their individual interests, abilities, and developmental stages.
    • Provide gentle guidance and support to help children develop self-discipline, problem-solving skills, and a love of learning.
    • Foster a sense of community and cooperation among students and staff.

    Environment Preparation:

    • Prepare and maintain an organized, inviting, and aesthetically pleasing classroom environment with Montessori materials and activities.
    • Regularly assess, refresh and prepare materials to ensure relevance and engagement.
    • Create a responsive and enriching classroom atmosphere that encourages exploration and discovery.

    Communication and Collaboration:

    • Establish open and effective communication with parents, keeping them informed about their child's progress and development.
    • Collaborate with fellow Montessori Guides and staff to ensure a cohesive educational experience.
    • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay updated on Montessori practices and pedagogy, ultimately earning your Certified Guide status, if you do not already have that.

    This is a position for an independent learner who can take direction and work with little direct guidance; someone who likes to collaborate, experiment, evaluate, and continually improve; and a flexible problem-solver. It is essential that this person can learn fast, loves to work hard, and is an active reader and writer. Preference will be given to applicants with Montessori training and/or experience working in a learner led educational setting.

  • Basic Qualifications

    • Montessori certification (AMI, AMS, MACTE, ASED, NAMC, other) for the appropriate age group.
    • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field (preferred).
    • Previous experience working in a Montessori environment.
    • Strong passion for and commitment to Montessori education principles.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Patience, adaptability, and a genuine love for working with children.
